Lady Lions slow Liberty-Eylau’s run
NEW BOSTON, Texas—Liberty-Eylau went 2-1 on the day, defeating Paris Chisum and Fouke, but falling to New Boston, which went 3-0, on the first day of the McDonald’s/New Boston Softball Tournament on Thursday.
Each contest was limited to an hour and 15 minutes.
The Lady Lions also defeated Paris
Chisum and Maud.
Atlanta went 2-1 as it defeated Rivercrest and Fouke, but lost to Mount Vernon.
In today’s games, starting at 9 a.m.,
Maud plays Chisum and Pittsburg faces Rivercrest. Rivercrest and Maud play, and Liberty-Eylau and Commerce meet in the second games of the day. Also, Atlanta and Chisum clash, as do Commerce and Maud.
Liberty-Eylau 9, Paris Chisum 0
Isabella Gunderson pitched a no-hitter as the Lady Leopards rolled to the win. Liberty-Eylau backed up Gunderson’s precision pitching with great defense.
Victoria Foster went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs for the Leopards, and teammate McKenzye Williamson was 1 for 3 with a two-run double. Keeley Norris helped out on offense by going 2 for 3.
Liberty-Eylau 9, Fouke 1
Gunderson pitched a 1-hitter and earned the win in the circle for the Leopards.
Williamson smacked two doubles and drove in four runs for Liberty-Eylau. Mariah Coleman went 3 for 3 with a double and a pair of RBI for the Leopards.
Crysta Larey scored the Lady Panthers’ run, Laykin Smallwood had an RBI, and Annsley Griffith had the lone hit.
New Boston 8, Liberty-Eylau 0
Morgan McAlexander earned the win and struck out seven to lead the Lady Lions to the shutout win.
Haley McAlexander collected three hits, while teammates Alexis Morden and McKenzee Thomas each had a pair of hits and 2 RBI.
Coleman went 1 for 1 for the Lady Leopards with a single and was hit by a pitch.
New Boston 9, Maud 1
Carlee Ratcliff had a pair of hits and drove in three runs to lead the Lions to victory.
Morgan McAlexander had two hits and 2 RBI, while teammate Alaysia Henderson added two hits.
Lauren Hurst struck out four and earned the win in the circle.
Kaitlin Conway and Abby Mathis each had a single for the Cardinals. Taylor Pate had an RBI for Maud.
New Boston 4, Paris Chisum 0
Morgan McAlexander fanned 10 batters and earned the win for the Lions.
Haley McAlexander paced New Boston at the dish with a pair of hits and an RBI, Morgan McAlexander had two RBIs, and Henderson added two hits.
Atlanta 5, Rivercrest 2
Kinsey Kelly earned the win in the circle for the Lady Rabbits.
Lilo Garcia led Atlanta at the plate with two doubles and two RBIs, while teammate Grace Smith hit a pair of singles and an RBI.
Devin Ulmer slapped a double and a single for the Rabbits.
Mount Vernon 5, Atlanta 3
Ulmer and freshman Callie Dyer each had three singles for the Rabbits in the loss.
Kelly laced in a double and a single for Atlanta, while teammate Smith added an RBI single.
Atlanta 4, Fouke 2
Smith earned the win in the circle for the Rabbits and hit two singles.
Cydnee Wood walloped an RBI triple and a single, while teammate Dani Arredondo slapped two doubles.
Kelly had an RBI and a pair of singles, and Ulmer and Dyer each hit two singles for Atlanta.
Larey belted a triple and walked, while teammate Smallwood added a double for the Lady Panthers.
Mount Vernon 6, Fouke 0
Larey had the only hit for the Lady Panthers in the loss.
The Lady Tigers’ Michayla DeLeon hit two round trippers and had four RBIs.
Pittsburg 8, Maud 0
Brianna Barnette and Pate each hit a single for the Lady Cardinals, who were shut out by the Lady Pirates.
In other games, Rivercrest edged Commerce, 5-4, Commerce and Pittsburg tied at 8-all, and Pittsburg also tied Mount Vernon, 2-2.
