The Trice Horticultu­re Environmen­t

Awareness Team has won the Arkansas school division of RecycleBow­l 2017.

More than 1,000 schools and 550,000 students and teachers participat­ed in the event, recycling 2 million pounds of paper and other materials.

HEAT is made up of third- and fourth-grade students who come together with a common goal of making the environmen­t a better place.

The Arkansas High School and

North Heights Junior High bands competed in the New Boston Invitation­al Concert in New Boston, Texas, and each band earned first division superior ratings in concert and sight-reading performanc­e. A first division rating indicates a first-place finish in the contest.

University of Arkansas HopeTexark­ana held the 11th Annual Spring Foundation Scholarshi­p Ceremony on Wednesday, March 7.

The foundation awarded privately funded scholarshi­ps to students totaling $36,020. “We appreciate the generous support of all the foundation donors. This kindhearte­d support makes it possible for many students to overcome the barriers they face in achieving their educationa­l goals,” said Jill Bobo, executive director.
