Liberty-Eylau snags 7-4 win over Atlanta Pleasant Grove 8, Pittsburg 7

ATLANTA, Texas—Tyrah Venable went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs to lead Liberty-Eylau to a 7-4 win over District 14-4A foe Atlanta on Friday.

Isabella Gunderson earned the win, allowed six hits, walked five, hit three batters and struck out two.

McKenzye Willliamson was 2 for 3 at the plate, doubled, drove in a pair of runs and was hit by a pitch for the Lady Leopards, while teammate Savannah Phelps smacked a double, walked and scored two runs.

Liberty-Eylau (15-4-1, 2-1) hosts Pittsburg Tuesday at 6 p.m.

PITTSBURG, Texas—Natalie Nicholson went 3 for 3, scored a run, drove in three runs and walked to lead the Lady Hawks to a District 14-4A win over Pittsburg.

Kristen Key went 2 for 4, scored a run and had 2 RBIs for Pleasant Grove, while teammate Kaylee Kelley was 2 for 4 and scored a run.

Maddie Horn earned the win in the circle.

THS boys in fourth

RICHARDSON, Texas—Texas High golf finished the first day of the Sherrill Park Invitational in fourth place on Friday.

The Tigers shot 323 and Round 1 leader Frisco Centennial ended the round with a score of 294. Fifteen teams are competing in the event.

Texas High’s Matt Prieskorn shot a 74, Camden Robertson a 79, Nick Kane an 84, Carter Maneth an 86 and Will Patterson an 88.

The invitational will continue today with Round 2 action beginning this morning.

Pleasant Grove 9, Pittsburg 0

PITTSBURG, Texas—Avery Jensen booted in four goals and added a pair of assists as Pleasant Grove’s varsity girls rolled past Pittsburg.

Katie Hutcheson made two goals and two assists for the Lady Hawks, while teammate Lauren Hughes had two assists.

Grace Pickleman kicked in a goal and had an assist, Sophia Tuttlebee scored once as did Delia Tuttlebee. Abby Hill added an assist for Pleasant Grove.

The Lady Hawks play at De Queen at 5 p.m. on Monday.
