Area anglers place in FLW tourney
ASHDOWN, Ark.—Three Southwest Arkansas fishermen placed in the Top 10 in the Arkie Division of the T-H Marine FLW bass fishing tournament Saturday on Millwood Lake. Wayne Dixon of Morrilton, Ark., won the tournament with a 19-pound, 10-ounce stringer, netting $5,866 in prize money.
Dixon brought home an additional $595 as he caught the biggest bass (7 pounds, 9 ounces). Jeffery Conway of Mineral Springs, Ark., placed third and earned $1,424 with a total of 19 pounds. Harold Bennett, from Hope, Ark., was ninth, with a 15-pound, 6-ounce stringer. He banked $569. Jerry Tabler of Mineral Springs pulled in a 15-pound, 1-ounce fish, which won $498 in prize money. Chip Hawkins of Little Rock was second with 19 pounds, 6 ounces. He raked in $2,336. Patrick Massey of Texarkana, Ark., placed seventh in the co-angler division and earned $338. Massey’s stringer was 12 pounds, 4 ounces. Also from Texarkana, Eddie Brown totaled 12 pounds, 2 ounces and finished 10th. Kenyon Johnson of Mountain Home, Ark., was the winner of the co-angler division with a weight of 15 pounds, 13 ounces; he took home $2,236. Travis Harley of Sherwood, Ark., reeled in the largest bass (9 pounds, 9 ounces) and won $297. FLW is the world’s largest tournament-fishing organization, providing anglers of all skill levels the opportunity to compete for prize money across five tournament circuits. FLW is headquartered in Benton, Ky.
