Hooks rallies to edge New Boston

HOOKS, Texas—Down three runs in bottom of the seventh, Hooks put together a rally and edged New Boston, 10-9, on Thursday.

TJ Krause finished with three hits and three RBI for the Hornets and knocked in the winning run with a walk-off single. Teammates Connor Price had three RBI and scored twice, while Tanner Pounds also scored twice.

New Boston’s Stone Williams had three hits, and Brian Reid added two hits.

Hooks reliever Zack Smith got the win on the mound.

Horatio 14, Foreman 1

FOREMAN, Ark.—Horatio run-ruled Foreman in a varsity conference baseball game on the road.

Zach Izzo received the win on the bump for the Lions. Izzo went five innings and collected five strikeouts. Izzo also finished with three hits and 3 RBI.

Ryan Vaught also added three hits and 3 RBI for the

Lions in the rout.

Tennis

The 5A Region 2 district tournament finals were held at Texas High School on Thursday.

Texas High won the boys title with a score of 92.5 points and won the girls title with a score of 87.5 points.

Cayll Clack placed second for Texas High in girls singles, while Gracie Morehead finished third.

Alec Rommel won the boys singles for THS and Connor Elliot placed third.

Tirzah Bailey and Janie Rounds won the girls doubles for Texas High, while Jaci Ammons and Mallari McClaran placed third.

Walker Trippe and Griffin Johnson won the boys doubles for the Tigers. Jebin Justin and Landon Durham placed third in the event.

Rhett Young and Reagan Potts won the mixed doubles for THS.

This was the 29th consecutiv­e year the Tigers have won the district title.

The first and second place winners advance to Regionals on April 18-19 in Allen, Texas.
