Pleasant Grove claims twin bill

OMAHA-NAPLES, TEXAS— Pleasant Grove swept their doublehead­er with Atlanta and Pittsburg Friday at Paul Pewitt.

Maddie Horn received the win in the circle for the Lady Hawks in the first game. Horn also led PG at the dish, going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Bre Jones went 1 for 4 with home run and 3 RBI for PG.

Emily Hilton and Natalie Nicholson, each went 2 for 3 for the Lady Hawks.

Alyssa Simmons led Atlanta at the plate, going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and also scoring a run.

Kinsie Kelley and Gracie Smith, each drove in runs for the Lady Rabbs.

aHorn received the win for the Lady Hawks in the circle during nightcap against Pittsburg. Horn pitched seven innings, gave up 10 hits and six runs. Horn also went 2 for 3 at the dish for PG with 2 RBI in the win.

Kirsten Key and Kaylee Kelley, each went 3 for 4 at the plate for the Lady Hawks and scored two runs. Bre Jones went 2 for 4 for Pleasant Grove, adding a RBI.

These two wins give the Lady Hawks third seed in the playoffs.

De Queen 17, Arkansas 2

De QUEEN, Ark.—Arkansas High’s varsity softball squad fell to De Queen on the road.

Sydnee Blackwell and Kate Todd, each had solo home runs for AHS. The Lady Backs will be back in action on Tuesday, hosting Acorn.

BASEBALL

Arkansas High 12, De Queen 2

De QUEEN, Ark.—Arkansas High run-ruled De Queen in six innings on the road, 12-2.

Dylan Adcock received the win on the hill for the Hogs. Adcock pitched five innings, gave up two hits, one run and struck out 11 batters.

Gage Gore led AHS at the dish, going 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI.

Drake Browning went 2 for 3 at the plate and also scored three runs for the Hogs in the rout.

Nick Vaughn collected two singles and a RBI for AHS, while teammates Logan Rhinehart, Graydon Martin, Austin Nix and Kameron Clark, all drove in runs.
