Hawks earn regional title
CANTON, Texas—Braxton Watkins shot 74, 70 (142) as he took top medalist and helped lead Pleasant Grove to a Region II-4A championship at Van Zandt Country Club on Tuesday.
The Hawks totaled a 618 over the two-day tournament.
Ben LeGrand shot a 79, 77 (156), Jackson Giles carded an 82, 74 (156), and Trevor Edmondson totaled 84, 80 (164).
Watkins, Giles, and LeGrand were named to the all-region team.
The Hawks play in the state championship on May 14-15 at Horseshoe Bay in Marble Falls, Texas.
THS finishes sixth
ROCKWALL, Texas—Texas High totaled a 315 in the final round of the Region II-5A golf tournament and placed sixth.
Matt Prieskorn shot a 74, Will Patterson had a 79, Cater Maneth finished with an 80, Camden Robertson shot an 82, and Nick Kane posted a 91 for the Tigers.
Highland Park won the tournament with a 578, while Texas High finished with a 630.
SOCCER Arkansas High 8, Hope 1
Makenna Ivey and Madison Colbert each booted in two goals to lead the Lady Backs to the victory at Razorback Stadium.
Sydnee Pritchett had two assists for Arkansas High, while teammates Nayeh Vasquez, Sarah Rose, Tamara Biddle and Crystal Vasquez each kicked in a goal.
Ivey, Colbert, and Biddle each had an assist.
