Nashville slides into region tourney

MALVERN, Ark.—Nashville punched its ticket to the 4A state tournament next week with a 10-0 run-ruling of Crossett in the opeing round of the 4A-South regional baseball tournament here Friday.

The Scrappers (25-4) face Ashdown, a 10-1 winner over Star City, at 1:30 p.m. in the semifinals with the winners advaning to the championsh­ip later in the evening.

Cason Drummond had three RBI on a pair of hits for Nashville, which took a 7-0 lead through two innings. Ty Gordon had two hits and two RBI, and J.R. Middleton also contribute­d two hits.

Ashdown 10, Star City 1

MALVERN, Ark.—Jaden Hill blasted two home runs and Ashdown advanced a step further in postseason play with a victory over Star City.

Alex Day went 2 for 4 at the plate for the Panthers and finished with a double and four RBI. Hill pitched the complete game to post the win on the mound.

Ashdown will play Nashville today at 1:30 p.m. in Malvern.

Soccer

Arkansas High 1, Sheridan 0

SHERIDAN, Ark.—Arkansas

High defeated Sheridan in a Conference 6A soccer match on the road.

Logan Miller scored the lone goal for the Hogs in the 58th minute and was also credited as the Offensive MVP of the match.

Dionko Horton delivered a shutout for AHS and also had eight saves, while teammate Collin Mackey was named Defensive MVP of the match.
