AWARDS
Miriam Dominguez of De Queen, Ark., was among a group of Phi Beta Lambda members from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to receive an award during the organization’s annual state leadership conference April 6-7.
Members attended workshops and competed in more than 55 events to represent Arkansas at the national leadership conference.
Dominguez won third and fifth place in the management concepts and organizational behavior leadership competitions.
Along with individual awards, the UA-Little Rock Phi Beta Lambda chapter was awarded first place for the largest local chapter membership percentage increase and won fourth place for the largest local chapter membership.
Dr. Casey Rockwell, assistant professor of marketing, and Sarah Clements, business information systems instructor, both serve as the organization’s faculty advisors. Texas A&M UniversityTexarkana students Daniel Collinsworth, Garrett Mason and Caleb Watson placed in the top 25 percent of the Differential Equation Modeling Competition.
The competition asked more than 400 students from 88 institutions to provide a solution for sorting different kinds of recycled materials.
A&M-Texarkana’s team used a series of equations to show how items of different weight and material could be sorted by dropping them from a specific height and allowing them to fall through a stream of air moving at a given speed.
