Dr. Cuenca, certified local oncologist, studies patients’ risks ahead of time
Northeast Texas Oncologic and Reconstructive Surgery, PA, is home to Dr. Rosa Cuenca, MD, FACS, a board-certified surgeon and a Fellowship-trained surgical oncologist.
Dr. Cuenca provides care to patients in Mount Pleasant, Paris, Texarkana, Sulphur Springs, Mount Vernon, Pittsburg, Gilmer, New Boston, Clarksville, Bogota, Naples, Omaha and surrounding communities.
Dr. Cuenca is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and is currently the president of the North Texas Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. She is a Fellowship-trained surgical oncologist who dedicates her practice to the care of breast cancer, as well as benign diseases of the breast, performing both Stereotactic and Ultrasound and MRI guided breast biopsies.
She also specializes in melanoma and other malignant skin and soft tissue and lymphatic cancers, parotid, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, as well as performing Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy for both breast cancer and melanoma since 1994. Dr. Cuenca’s goal is to provide patients with comprehensive surgical oncology expertise, technologies and treatments in the surveillance and surgical treatment of benign and malignant breast conditions, skin, thyroid and parathyroid endocrine tumors, and lymph malignancies.
She performs a pain-free Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy for breast cancer, injecting radioactive dye while asleep, and not while awake, allowing the patient a more comfortable and stress free surgery. A strong advocate for Breast Conservation surgery, she specializes in Oncoplastic Reconstructive Breast Surgery, to obtain the best cosmetic outcome.
As a surgical oncologist, Dr. Cuenca is very interested in cancer risk assessment and genetic testing and provides this through her consultation.
