SITE, TIME: Best-of-three series, all games are at Whitehouse High School. Games 1 is today at 7 p.m., Game 2 is Saturday at 5 p.m., with a Game 3, if needed, to follow 30 minutes after Game 2.
AT STAKE: Class 2A regional semifinal championship.
LAST ROUND: Maud defeated Union Grove in three games, 6-5, 2-7, 11-4. Douglass swept Gary, 6-2, 10-5.
MAUD LINEUP: P-Cade Townsend, C-Payton Windham, 1B-Cameron Mills, 2B-Hunter Thomas, 3B-Rayne Bailey, SS-Gage Jones, LF-Josh Luther, CF-Brooks Minter, RF-Adam Roberts.
COACH’S COMMENTS: Maud’s Joel Windham—“Douglass has played really good district opponents and have good tradition. Coach Jeff Roquemore has been there for a good while, and the team is very competitive since he has been there. They are a solid team as they have just four loses on the season. They play solid defense, hit the ball well, and throw strikes.
“We are going to have to play smart. We’ve had our moments where we’ve had one bad inning, and we have to find a way to eliminate that if we are to have a chance to compete. We can’t give away a bad inning against Douglass; they will take advantage of it. We need to put seven solid innings together in each game and not have many miscues.”
NEXT ROUND: The winner advances to the regional finals to play either Carlisle or Woden.
