THS senior honored for achievements
Blaire Berry, a senior at Texas High School, has been selected by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals as a member of the TASSP All-State Academic Excellence Team.
This award is designed to recognize Texas high school seniors for their outstanding academic achievements and the rewards of superior scholarship.
Outstanding senior students were nominated by their high school principals based on their SAT and ACT scores, academic grade point average, pursuit of advanced diploma and other evidence of exceptional academic ability. Nominees also wrote a 300-500 word essay to submit with the application From the group of more than 150 outstanding young scholars, 20 were chosen for the TAASP All-State Academic Excellence Team.
As a member of the team, Berry was awarded a $500 scholarship and will be formally recognized at the TASSP Summer Workshop in Austin on June 14.
Blaire is the daughter of Vickie and Billy Berry. She is the 2018 valedictorian for Texas High School, a Distinguished Achievement Program graduate, a Ross Perot STEM Academy graduate, a Texas Scholar and an AP Scholar with Distinction.
While at Texas High, Blaire was a member of the National Honor Society, Quill & Scroll International Honor Society for high school journalists, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, International Thespian Society, Business Professionals of America, student council, Tiger Theatre Company and Tiger Tennis.
