Police arrest couple after finding them in SUV reported stolen

-

A Little Rock couple has been arrested in Texarkana after they were found in a stolen vehicle.

The Texarkana, Texas, Police Department arrested Earl-Barnabas Coleman, 25, and Ashley Wiggens, 26, both of Little Rock, early Tuesday after they were found in the vehicle at the Road Runner convenience store at 4101 N. Kings Highway, TTPD spokesman Shawn Vaughn said.

A call was received from OnStar at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday reporting that a stolen white 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe was being tracked and was currently stopped at the convenience store. OnStar advisers indicated they were going to disable the vehicle while it was stopped.

Officers Mitchell Page and Austin Butts located the vehicle at the gas pumps as Coleman was trying to start it. They spoke with Coleman, who told them that a person he knew only by a first name offered to loan him the vehicle to travel to Dallas. Coleman was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after the officers confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen in Little Rock.

Officers also learned that Wiggens, who was a passenger in the vehicle, allegedly used a credit card she found inside the vehicle to buy food and drinks at the Road Runner. The card belonged to the owner of the vehicle. Wiggens was arrested on a charge of credit card abuse.

Both were taken to the Bi-State jail without incident. Coleman’s bond was set at $10,000, and Wiggens’ bond was set at $15,000.
