Three years later, search continues for pilot’s killer

Roberts’ family offering $10K reward for answers

- By Lynn LaRowe

Three years have passed since a local pilot was found dead in his Texarkana, Ark., home and the case remains under investigation.

Scott Roberts, 40, was shot multiple times. Roberts was found by family members who went to check on him at his house in the 1800 block of Garland Street because they had been unable to contact him by phone.

Texarkana, Ark., Police Department investigators have continued to track down leads and interview witnesses in hopes of developing a viable suspect.

TAPD Capt. Bobby Jordan said he and Sgt. Paul Nall traveled to Washington and presented the case to the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit in Quantico, Va., last fall.

“During this process I kept the Roberts family informed of our actions and met with them on a couple of different occasions,” Jordan said. “Although not in the sense that the family mourns their loss, our hearts and souls have been poured into solving this case for them, and we too have developed a sense of kinship with them. Solving the case just hasn’t happened yet and we will not stop following up on every rumor, hunch, lead or shred of evidence we are made aware of.”

In the months following Roberts’

murder, a Go Fund Me page was established to solicit funds for a reward fund which has now reached $10,110.

“Scott was an amazing son, father, brother, cousin and friend to many. He never met a stranger and acquired many friends during his 40 years on earth. He was taken from us far too soon and his family and friends deserve answers,” the Go Fund Me page states. “Through this, we are hoping to raise funds for a reward to give to the person(s) that can provide the police with answers that will lead to an arrest and ultimately a conviction. Any donation at all will help…no amount is too small. We appreciate the support and most importantly the prayers for peace and justice.”

Texarkana area Crime Stoppers has pledged a $1,000 reward as well for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to immediately call Texarkana, Ark., Police Department at 903-798-3154 or the Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP.
