Hope couple’s gift establishes scholarship for area students
Steve and Cindy Lance of Hope, Ark., recently established the Lance & Associates Endowed Scholarship at the University of Arkansas at Hope-Texarkana. The Lances are owners of Lance & Associates Real Estate in Hope.
“Since it was established in 2006, giving back has been a trait of our company,” Steve Lance said. Some of the organizations the company contributes to are Hope and Spring Hill FFA, Hempstead and Nevada County fairs, Hope Athletic Booster Club, Band Boosters, Relay for Life and United Way.
The Lances are members of Hope Church of Christ. Steve is involved with the Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Corporation Board, the Farm Bureau Board, and Rotary Club and is a charter member of the UA Hope-Texarkana Foundation Board.
“We are pleased to be able to make this commitment, hoping to benefit students and impact their families for good,” Steve Lance said. “The endowment intends to help individuals pursue education or business degrees. Helping students succeed in turn promotes our schools, communities and society for the better.”
Cindy Lance has worked in education for more than 28 years. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting, worked as an accountant, taught accounting at the high school and college levels and is currently practicing accounting at UA Hope-Texarkana.
Members of their family who have worked in education include Cindy’s father, Dr. William C. Loe, who was in the field for 40 years; sisters Dr. Jan Hastings, who has 21 years of experience, and Cathy Loe, with 15 years in the field; and Steve’s mother, Lucile Lance, who has 42 years of experience.
“Our family believes in the value of education because it was instilled in us by our parents and it is our privilege to be friends of the foundation and contribute to the continued success at UAHT,” Steve said.
