L-E grad signs letter of intent

- —Josh Richert

Recent Liberty-Eylau graduate Bryan Moore signed a national letter of intent to continue his academic and baseball careers at Texas A&M University-Texarkana during a signing ceremony held Monday at the L-E Library.

“It’s fun to see kids like Bryan to continue to play. What he does with the opportunity will be on him, but he’s earned it,” Leopard baseball coach Zach Fowler said. “He played great for us this year. I’m proud of him and excited for his future. Bryan is a grinder; he just gets after it every day. Any time the ball park’s open, he’s there working. He loves to play the game, and those are the kids you love to see move on to the next level.”

Moore started two years for the Leopards after transferring to L-E prior to his junior year. He was an all-district third baseman

as a junior and all-district shortstop—while also pitching— senior year, when he batted .430.

“He’s going to be hard to replace, but I’m happy to see him get the chance to move on to the next level,” Fowler said. “Off the field, he’s one of those kids that his teammates root for because he works so hard. Hopefully, he finds the weight room when he gets to A&M-Texarkana, because if he adds some weight to his frame, he’s going to be a really good player in college.”

Moore was recruited as a position player. He liked being able to play at home and the winning tradition the young Eagle baseball program has already established.

“When I moved to LibertyEylau, the coaches showed that they were more involved,” Moore said. “Coach Fowler took us all in, he cared about all of us, and he made sure we all worked hard. I felt like that helped me as a person and as a baseball player. I heard Coach (Steve) Jones is a hard coach, like Coach Fowler, strict, and I like that type of coaching.”

Moore plans to study sociology or psychology.

Bryan is the son of Amy and Mickey Moore.
