Schools sign agreements for science majors
Officials from Texas A&M University-Texarkana and Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant recently signed several new articulation agreements for science majors.
These agreements, sometimes called 2+2 plans, lay out a specific pathway between two institutions so that students can easily transfer from a community college to a four-year university and know exactly what they need to complete a specific degree program.
The six new agreements link NTCC associate degrees to Biology and Chemistry bachelor’s degrees at A&M-Texarkana, four of which include teacher certification.
Bachelor of Biology
Associate of Science in Biology to Bachelor of Science in Biology
Associate of Science in General Studies to Bachelor of Science in Biology, 4-8 science teacher certification
Associate of Arts in Teaching, 7-12 Science to Bachelor of Science in Biology, 4-8 science teacher certification
Associate of Arts in Teaching, 7-12 Science to Bachelor of Science in Biology, 7-12 life science teacher certification
Associate of Arts in Teaching, 7-12 Science to Bachelor of Science in Biology, 7-12 composite science teacher certification
Bachelor of Chemistry
Associate of Science in Chemistry to Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
Students who enroll under these new programs will complete associate degree requirements at NTCC, then attend classes at A&MTexarkana to complete a bachelor’s degree. Including these programs, the schools now have 28 such agreements.
