Bombers best Twins in 7-3 win
Just wasn’t in the cards this time.
The Texarkana Twins grabbed an early lead, but it would be a short one as the Brazos Valley Bombers answered quickly and scored often late in the game to take a 7-3 victory on Wednesday night at George Dobson Field in Spring Lake Park.
Kaleb La’Seen helped the Twins take their only lead in the second inning when he scored on a Hunter Church single.
Brazos Valley, however, knotted it up in the following frame.
Cam Blake singled to left field to score lead-off hitter Cole Coker. After that, it was smooth sailing for the Bombers.
Brazos Valley tacked on another run in the sixth inning to take its first lead, 2-1, when Sy Snedeker brought in Alex Wilson with his first of three hits in the ballgame. Snedeker finished 3 for 5, with two singles and a double.
The eighth inning got interesting with both teams putting up runs, but the Bombers came away with three as Texarkana cut into its deficit with two.
Zack Iverson led the inning off with a double and was later brought home by Snedeker’s two-bagger. With one on and two outs, Coker blasted a two-run shot over
the right-field wall that gave the Bombers a 5-1 lead, which proved to be too much for the Twins to counter.
Texarkana attempted a rally in the bottom half of the eighth when it scored two runs, but it wouldn’t be enough.
Cam Hill went 2 for 5 at the plate—both singles —to lead the Twins, while also reaching on base twice on walks.
Texarkana starting pitcher Cannon Davis finished with a no-decision, but pitched 5 2/3 solid innings. He struck out one but only allowed two hits.
