Whether it’s classical oratorios,

Broadway show tunes or patriotic numbers, the Texarkana Regional Chorale brings consistent excellence to the stage as the city’s community chorus.

Under the direction of conductor and music director Marc-André Bougie with pianist Mary Scott Goode accompanying the chorus, the chorale has provided a diverse selection of beautiful vocal music to local audiences annually. The TRC also has ventured to New York City three times to sing at Carnegie Hall. TRC joined other choirs in the region— such as the Texarkana College singers, choirs from Liberty-Eylau High School and Veritas Academy, the Shreveport Chorale and singers from two East Texas chapels—to perform Haydn’s “Mariazell Mass.”

Another concert this past season was “American Sounds,” the chorale’s salute to veterans, with patriotic music including songs from all branches of the military.

TRC members hail from all sorts of backgrounds and range in age from teens to adults in their 80s.

Next season will see the chorale perform an equally diverse repertoire of music, including spirituals and gospel songs: Bach’s “Magnificat” and “Christmas Oratorio,” Robert Cohen’s “Alzheimer Stories” and, from Carl Orff, “Carmina Burana.”

Fall 2018 shows include the outdoors “Al Fresco Concert” at CHRISTUS St. Michael Imaging Center, a Mistletoe Fair showcase at the Four States Fairgrounds and their “Christmas Choral Splendor” concert at St. Edward Catholic Church.

In spring 2019, the group will perform “SoulFest” at Sullivan Performing Arts Center, a Mardi Gras fundraiser, the work “Alzheimer Stories” and Orff’s classic at the Perot Theatre.

TRC’s singers rehearse every week from August until May in the Stilwell Humanities Building’s music hall at Texarkana College.
