Texarkana Gazette

Trump and Putin

-

TO THE EDITOR:

The newspapers in the U.S. and around the world had headlines about the outcome of the TrumpPutin news conference. No headline on this very important exchange in the Texarkana gazette.

What did the Gazette zero in on “In Our View”? The focus was on how much money, $50 million, had been raised mainly by small donors and how President Trump had connected with a lot of ordinary Americans.

President Trump does not need a lot of campaign money—he has been campaigning “free of charge” ever since he has been in the White House. He has had many “fire up the base” rallies in many states already.

My main point is that the Gazette did not mention that President Trump had taken sides with a foreign country against our own country concerning election meddling by Russia. He did not believe his own intelligence agency in the matter.

Mr. Trump could not say he believed Russia interfered with our 2016 election.

Mr. Putin admitted that he wanted Trump to win and he said “yes” when asked if he directed some of his official to help Trump win.

This is a national emergency. The national crisis is the president—he is acting on the authority of Russia. Mr. Trump is an asset to Russia.

What does Putin want from the U.S.? Why is Mr. Trump afraid to make one negative comment about Putin? What does Mr. Putin have on Mr. Trump? Follow the money trail. Mary McPherson Washington, Ark.
