Thoreau Lecture
Teacher, writer and independent scholar Lauren Hehmeyer of Texarkana will present a community program on Henry David Thoreau for the public from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at 401 Bronco Lane in Linden, Texas.
Hehmeyer is a professional speaker of 30 years experience, coupled with a career in academia. She recently presented a paper in France on 19th-century artist May Alcott Nieriker, who was the younger sister of Louisa May Alcott, the author of “Little Women.”
For her Thoreau lecture, Hehmeyer spent several weeks in Concord, Massachusetts, studying Thoreau and the American Transcendentalists in their native city.

The program in Linden will have limited seating capacity, but the public is encouraged to attend and may do so with registration by ca— lling 903-796-7027. The presentation is free but contributions are welcomed.
Dr. Beverly Rowe
Dr. Beverly Rowe of Texarkana will present her video “Old Town” for the Cass County Genealogical Society meeting 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church in Queen City, Texas.
Dr. Rowe is a Texarkana College history professor who has written about Texarkana, especially its downtown buildings, and who renovated one building there while establishing two downtown museums as well. The two museums are the Lindsey Railroad Museum and Texarkana’s Old Town.
Dr. Rowe’s video tour will take the viewer back 120 years.
