Redwater Spikers’ tourney starts today

REDWATER, Texas—It’s that time of year again.

Volleyball is in full force, and 12 teams will descend upon Redwater High School to compete in the Redwater Spikers’ Classic tournament.

Matches will be played at the new and old Dragon Gyms, and the tournament is today and Saturday.

Hughes Springs, Maud, Redwater junior varsity, and Paul Pewitt are in Pool A. Competing in Pool B are Chapel Hill, Liberty-Eylau, Queen City, and LindenKild­are. Redwater, James Bowie, Columbia Christian, and Jefferson are in Pool C.

In the old gym, Hughes Springs takes on Maud at 8 a.m., Paul Pewitt goes up against Redwater jayvee at 9, Maud plays Redwater jayvee at 10, Maud tussles with Paul Pewitt at 11, Hughes Springs goes up against Pewitt at 12, and Redwater jayvee tangles with Hughes Springs at 1.

In the new gym, Chapel Hill plays Liberty-Eylau at 8 a.m. and is followed by Queen City and L-K at 9. At 10, Chapel Hill goes up against Queen City, L-E and L-K battle at 11, Chapel Hill goes against L-K at noon, and L-E takes on QC at 1 p.m.

The action in the new gym continues with Redwater and

James Bowie at 2, Columbia Christian and Jefferson follow at 3, and Redwater clashes with Columbia Christian at 4. James Bowie tangles with Jefferson at 5, Redwater plays Jefferson at 6, and JB takes on CC at 7.

Once the champions and challenger­s brackets are set, play continues from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday. The championsh­ip match is at 4 in the new gym. The challenger­s championsh­ip is in the old gym at 4.
