Maud overcomes Como-Pickton
COM O - PICKTON, Texas—Maud defeated Como-Pickton in their season opener on the road in five sets, 25-16, 13-25, 25-16, 18-25, 15-13.
Makenna Jones led the Lady Cardinals with 18 service points and 14 kills. Brynn Sultz and Alyssa Hailey-Twite added 10 service points each. Riley Murphy contributed 18 kills and Brianna Barnette collected 10 assists.
Maud fell to Como-Pickton in the junior varsity match, 25-17, 25-17.
Jordan Jones led the Lady Cardinals with seven service points and Jaden Gains added four service points.
Pittsburg defeats Queen City in five
PITTSBURG, Texas— Pittsburg outlasts Queen City in five sets at home to open the season, 20-25, 27-25, 25-22, 14-25, 15-11.
Claire Bates led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 service points and Colleen Kilgore added 13 service points.
Queen City’s junior varsity swept Pittsburg in two sets, 25-23, 25-23.
The Bulldogs are back in action this weekend at the Redwater Spikers Classic tournament.
New Boston edges Mount Vernon
MOUNT VERNON, Texas— New Boston whisked past Mount Vernon in the season opener on the road in four sets, 26-24, 24-26, 26-24, 25-17.
Morgan McAlexander led the Lady Lions with 12 kills and Grace Duffer added 22 assists. Tamiya Smith contributed eight blocks and Carlee Ratcliff finished with 31 digs.
Mount Vernon defeated New Boston in the junior varsity match, 25-15, 25-15.
Lillian McGill led the Lions with six service points.
Paul Pewitt overtakes Daingerfield
OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas—Daingerfield upended Paul Pewitt on the road in the season opener in four sets, 25-16, 22-25, 25-13, 25-12.
TreShawnti Howard led the Lady Tigers with 30 service points and Makayla Robinson added 27 service points. Montrevia Durham finished her night with 25 service points.
The Lady Brahmas defeated the Tigers in the junior varsity match.
Daingerfield will host Pittsburg Friday, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Lady Hawks take down Patriots
Georgia Cobb powered in 16 kills as Pleasant Grove defeated Prairiland, 21-25, 27-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-11, at Hawk Gym on Tuesday.
Katie Ferguson had 14 kills and 15 assists, Natalie Hale made six blocks, Sydney Hopkins had 17 digs, Grace Pickelman made 10 digs and Macey Adams served in 14 points.
Alley Grace Jarjo slapped in 18 service points to lead PG’s junior varsity over Whitehouse, 25-13, 25-21.
Lucy Woodman had 11 service points, and the Hawks’ 9th grade A team defeated Whitehouse, 25-20, 12-25, 25-20. Addison Alexander and Woodman had 10 service points each, but the B team lost, 26-24, 15-25, 24-26.
