New Boston tops Liberty-Eylau

NEW BOSTON, Texas—New Boston’s volleyball team survived five sets to take down Liberty-Eylau on Friday.

Haley McAlexande­r had 11 points for the Lady Lions in their 18-25, 25-20, 26-24, 23-25, 15-12 win.

Liberty-Eylau’s Tamara Norris finished with a teamhigh 14 points and Kaylee Dalby added 10.

New Boston’s Morgan McAlexande­r had 16 kills, Carleigh Reeves added eight kills and Grace Duffer finished with 23 assists.

The Lady Lions will be back in action today when they play Paris Chisum.

LADY RABBS SWEEP

JEFFERSON, Texas—Atlanta had little trouble with Jefferson on Friday night.

The varsity team defeated the Lady Bulldogs, 25-21, 25-12, 25-15, and as a team had 22 assits, 28 kills, 16 aces and two blocks.

Callie Dyer had 11 assits for the Lady Rabbits and Teammate Sheveonia Smith finished with eight assits, seven kills and one ace. Keyona Easter and Tianna Lawson each contribute­d a block in the win.

Atlanta’s junior varsity team won, 25-13, 25-22, with Casey Lambert and Charity Henderson each scoring seven points.

In ninth-grade action, the Lady Rabbs won, 25-19, 25-10.

Haley Stanford scored a game-high 21 points, including an ace, for Atlanta.
