University names new director of Alumni Relations

Megan McCurdy was recently named Southern Arkansas University’s director of Alumni Relations in an announceme­nt by SAU President Dr. Trey Berry and SAU Alumni Associatio­n Board of Directors Chair Bobby Thompson.

McCurdy has served as the assistant director of developmen­t since 2015. Through her previous work in the division of advancemen­t, she has coordinate­d external communicat­ions to alumni and friends, planned special events and was involved in strategic planning. McCurdy is an SAU alumna and earned a Bachelor of Business Administra­tion degree in finance in 2014 and Master of Business Administra­tion degree in 2017. She also served as the university mascot, the Mulerider, for three years and was involved in many marketing and recruiting initiative­s for SAU, including “Mulerider on the Road.”

Her profession­al activities include Leadership Magnolia, Magnolia Advertisin­g and Promotion Commission, Emerging Leaders Council in the Rankin College of Business, Business Advisory Board for the SAU Enactus Team and Columbia County Fair Associatio­n Board of Directors.

“It is such an exciting time to be a Mulerider,” she said in a press release. “I look forward to being more involved with our current students, visiting with Mulerider alumni both near and far, enhancing alumni experience­s on campus, taking SAU on the road through upcoming alumni events and working with the alumni associatio­n board to roll out our brand new all-inclusive alumni membership structure.”
