JANE WARMACK

Jane Porter Warmack died on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Texarkana, Texas. Born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on May 27, 1931 to Bess Packard Porter and James Sullivan Porter, she grew up in Fort Smith and graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1949. In 1953, Jane graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. While at Iowa State, she pledged Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, starting a life- long circle of very close sisters who still remain in contact today. An added bonus was when her daughter and granddaughters also were initiated into Pi Phi.

Jane married Edward Warmack in Fort Smith in 1954. Her generous heart and sense of community spirit touched many organizations in Fort Smith and Texarkana. The Junior Leagues of both Fort Smith and Texarkana were very important as well as the Art Center Board, the Foundation of Sparks Hospital and the Board of Trustees of the University of the Ozarks. She was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church and while living in Texarkana, she and Ed attended both Beech Street Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Moores Lane. The P.E.O. sisterhood and Chapter F, Fort Smith, held a special place as she shared this membership with her daughter, mother and grandmother.

Never missing an opportunity to try new things, Jane opened and operated two Baskin-Robbins ice cream stores, learned to fly an airplane, canoed the Buffalo River and took trail rides in Colorado. Jane was a lifelong learner, enjoyed traveling, and circumnavigated the world twice. Bridge, reading and keeping up with friends were favorite pastimes. Jane was active with the Daughters of American Revolution and displayed her love of country by daily flying the American Flag outside her home.

Jane is survived by her children, Ann and husband Brad Brookshire, George and wife Mona Warmack, John Warmack, Robert Warmack, James and wife Becky Warmack and Daniel and wife Susan Warmack. Grandchildren include Trent and wife Caroline Brookshire, Wood and wife Lauren Brookshire, Cliff Brookshire, Lee and husband Neal McDonald, Ashley Warmack, Hayley Warmack, James Thomas Warmack, Anna Grace Warmack, Jack Warmack, Jordan and husband David Evans, Joseph Kennedy and David Warmack. Great grandchildren are Raleigh and Davis Brookshire and Georgie McDonald.

Graveside Service will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 10, at Forest Park Cemetery, 5001 Midland Boulevard at the Warmack family plot with Dr. John Clayton officiating under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. If desired, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
