From the competitive and entertainment aspect, fans couldn’t have asked for much more from Texas High and Arkansas High Friday in the 103rd meeting of the football teams.

The Tigers were able to rally in the second half and edge the visiting Razorbacks, 43-35, at Tiger Stadium in Grim Park in a game which featured almost a little bit of everything.

After Torie Blair scooped up a blocked PAT and returned it 82 yards for an Arkansas 2-point conversion to give the Hogs a 16-13 lead at intermission, the teams combined for four TDs in 10 offensive snaps to start the second half.

In the second half, Texas High converted a trio of 2-point conversions of its own—each with QB Coltin Clack throwing the conversion to different receivers after Clack flung for his second, third and fourth TDs of the game. He also rushed for a pair of scores.

Arkansas High, which had scored on the game’s opening drive and went up 14-0 midway through the second quarter on Cameron Collier’s first of three touchdown runs, never let up.

However, a fumble in their own

territory all but sealed the Razorbacks’ fate late in the game as THS was able to run out the clock.

Collier, starting in place of the injured Jordan Hall, rushed for 166 yards and three TDs for AHS, and Sean Foreback added two rushing scores.

The teams were tied at 29 to start the fourth quarter, but the Tigers found the end zone twice in the final quarter, sandwiched around Arkansas High’s final TD.

It was a game for the ages in the annual rivalry, and one that can help set up runs for league titles and into the playoffs.

Arkansas High is open next week before starting 5A-South play, and Texas High travels to Liberty-Eylau Friday in its nextto-last district tune-up game.
