Report: Local economic activity turning heads
At the Chamber of Commerce’s monthly meeting, board members received word that local economic activity has people talking beyond Texarkana’s borders.
The AR-TX REDI event took place Sept. 4 in Texarkana. Attended by the governors of both states, the event premiered a new organization intended to actively market the region and recruit new businesses and industries.
According to board member Jennifer Harland, “The economic development community is very tight. They’ve been asking about what is going on in Texarkana as far away as Florida.”
The chamber will hold a Business After Hours at 4:30 p.m. this Thursday at Farmers Bank & Trust, 2900 St. Michael Drive, Texarkana, Texas. There will be food, drinks, networking and door prizes. All chamber members are invited.
The 36th Annual Golf Tournament takes place 10 a.m. Oct. 4 at the Texarkana Country Club, 1 Country Club Lane, Texarkana, Ark.

This tournament recognizes BWI and Lewell & Son as outstanding area industries during the lunch program, starting at 11 a.m. Contact the chamber to register.
