Hawks’ JV top Bulldogs, 41-7

TYLER, Texas—Logan Johnson rushed for four touchdowns to help lift Pleasant Grove’s junior varsity to a 41-7 win over Chapel Hill Thursday at Bulldog Stadium.

Johnson had scoring runs of 55, 24, 10 and 37 yards. Connor Damron added three extra points for the Hawks, and Hayden Koller caught a 2-point conversion from Jalen Woodside.

Quinn Bingham had a late intercepti­on for PG, as well.

Pleasant Grove rallied from behind to win, 14-8.

After a second-quarter TD and 2-point conversion by the Bulldog freshmen, Alex Galvan kept it at 8-0 heading into halftime with an intercepti­on at the 5-yard line with 10 ticks remaining.

PG forced a safety in the third, and Reese Elrod tied the game on an 8-yard run. Colin Manning scored what was the game-winning 7-yard touchdown with eight minutes left for Pleasant Grove, and the Hawk defense kept Chapel Hill out of the end zone with a late goal-line stand.

L-E, Argyle frosh tie

SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas— Liberty-Eylau’s and Argyle’s freshmen played to a 34-all tie at Gerald Prim Stadium.

Ian Jones had scoring runs of 57 and 45 yards and also connected to throw TDs to Keyuntae Featherson, those touchdowns covering 65 and 36 yards.

Keyvuntae Featherson added a 2-point conversion, as did Shawn White, who also had an intercepti­on on defense. Ends Daylen Crawford and Marquis Bailey and defensive lineman Devon King were also standouts for the Leopards.

Rabbs romp over Dragons

ATLANTA, Texas—Keith Kinney had three rushing touchdowns to help propel Atlanta’s junior varsity to a 40-0 win over visiting Redwater.

Kinney had scoring runs of 6, 21 and 19 yards, and QB Cooper McClure and receiver Alijuah Drayton connected twice for long TDs. McClure hit Drayton for a 64-yard strike to open up the scoring and later threw a 34-yard TD to Drayton.

D.K. Parker also had a 10-yard TD run, and Daniel Hernandez booted four extra points.

On defense, the entire side was praised for the shutout, and Brennan Gaston, Adrian Kennington and Matt Davenport had fumble recoveries for the Rabbs.

Lions, Jefferson split

JEFFERSON, Texas—Jefferson’s eighth grade squad defeated New Boston Thursday night at W. F. Lockett Stadium, 16-12.

Will Henson scored two touchdowns for the Lions, both on runs of two yards.

Demetrious McChester finished with 100 yards rushing for New Boston.

New Boston’s seventh grade squad blanked Jefferson, 26-0.

Jordan Harrison scored the first touchdown for the Lions on a 10-yard run.

Dontae Thompson caught a two 50-yard passes for touchdowns from Connor Bobbitt and Xavier Rowden.

Bobbitt also scored on a 2-yard run for the Lions.

Jonah Sanchez converted a 2-point conversion for New Boston.
