Pirates top L-E

WACO, Texas—La Vega’s John Richards first-half touchdowns were enough for the Pirates to vanquish Liberty-Eylau at Pirate Stadium Friday night, 56-19.

Richards ended the night with six totes for 92 yards and three touchdowns. Richards also caught one pass for seven yards.

Cedric Dickerson put the Leopards on the board in the second quarter with his 26-yard reception from Isaiah Cross.

Dickerson caught two passes for 31 yards and a touchdown. Dickerson also ended with seven carries for 57 yards and a score for the Leopards.

L-E quarterbac­k Isaiah Cross showed his versatilit­y within the offense. He caught three passes for 46 yards, while completing three of seven passes for 30 yards. He also rushed five times for 25 yards.

Talveyion Cooper scored for the Leopards in the first half on a 8-yard run to cut into the Pirate lead. Cooper finished with six totes for 54 yards and a touchdown. Cooper also completed six of 11 passes for 113 yards.

El-Amin Greer caught a pass for the Leopards for 32 yards and Shayne Porche added a grab for 26 yards.

Cedric Dickerson put the Leopards on the board in the third quarter with his 31-yard run to slice the deficit, 49-19.

Elisha Cummings, Demicco Chambliss and Josh Hamilton scored on runs of more than 20 yards for the Pirates.

Cummings added a 43-yard TD run at the end of the third quarter to seal the victory for La Vega.

Liberty-Eylau falls to 1-5, while La

Vega climbs to 4-2.
