- By Jason Hopkins

Arkansas High got big plays from Cameron Collier in the second half as the fifth-ranked Razorbacks dethroned previously undefeated Little Rock McClellan, 21-15, on Friday night at Razorback Stadium.

Collier finished the game with 145 yards

on 19 rushing attempts and scored two touchdowns—one coming from a 41-yard fumble recovery.

Arkansas High (6-1, 4-0) came out in the second half, after being held to just 40 yards of offense before halftime, to score 14 unanswered points after trailing after three quarters and take control of the 5A-South title race.

Despite the loss, the Crimson Lions more than doubled first-down advantage, 15-6, and had more offensive yards, 256-150.

McClellan (6-1, 4-1), coming into the game ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press poll, got big contributions on the ground, with running back Derrick Lloyd Jr. and quarterback Jaylon Williams combining for 142 yards. Williams finished with a teamhigh 76 yards and a score on 19 totes, and Lloyd added 66 yards and a score on 22 attempts.

The Crimson Lions, however, had two crucial turnovers, one resulting in Collier’s late score for Arkansas High. Arkansas High also had two fumbles but recovered both to finish the contest with no turnovers.

The Razorbacks bucked the trend of having a lot of penalties and finished with 25 yards on just five flags.

Arkansas High is back in action next Friday when it hosts Hot Springs.
