Horatio bests Bismarck, 18-13

BISMARCK, Ark.—Horatio inched closer to a playoff berth with their win over Bismarck at Doyle Henderson Field, 18-13.

Dylan Clayton caught a 59-yard pass from James Kegley to put Bismarck ahead in the first quarter.

Parker Rowe added a score for Horatio on his 28-yard run in the second quarter to tie the game, 6-6.

Kegley gave Bismarck the edge on his 5-yard dash in the second period.

Rowe added his second touchdown of the night from 3 yards out before halftime.

Rowe also scored the winning touchdown for Horatio with 03:57 remaining in the fourth quarter. Rowe finished with 83 yards on 12 carries and three touchdowns.

Prescott 45, Genoa Central 3

PRESCOTT, Ark.—Prescott Ryan Johnson passed for two touchdowns and ran for another to power the Curley Wolves to a 45-3 romp over Genoa Central in Conference 5-3A action at Eddie Jackson Field.

Prescott, ranked No. 5 in the state in Class 3A, improves to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in conference while the Dragons slip to 1-6, 0-4. The Curley Wolves had their 20-game home streak snapped last week in a 21-20 loss to third-ranked Smackover.

Johnson was the catalyst for the Wolves Friday, completing 6 of 11 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns, both to Cameron Cox. The first scoring pass covered 35 yards and the second 60 yards. Johnson also scored on an 11-yard run as the Curley Wolves built a commanding 31-0 halftime lead. Johnson finished with 22 yards rushing on two carries and Cox caught five passes for 147 yards.

Prescott’s other touchdowns came on Darriun Thompson’s 65-yard run, Alex George’s 5-yard run and Jacobi Nolen’s 40-yard pass to Kylin Haynie. Luis Rabadan also kicked a 33-yard field goal for the hosts, who amassed 371 yards total offense while holding Genoa Central to 148.

The Dragons, who had been held scoreless in their previous two games, averted the shutout when Aaron Barwick kicked a 38-yard field goal with 11:45 left in the final quarter.
