Meeting explores housing solutions
The Sevier County Rural Development Authority recently discussed methods to increase housing markets in Sevier County to solve housing shortages in Arkansas.
The RDA shared banker Trey Gage’s expertise in developing building projects to solve housing shortages in Arkansas.
One of the five priorities listed in RDA’s strategic plan is to “Increase Suitable Housing Projects,” and the RDA is beginning to explore options available to the communities of Sevier County.
“We were really interested in having Mr. Gage speak at our meeting. The RDA realizes that one of the major factors that makes our area more attractive for economic growth is the availability of housing, and Mr. Gage has overseen many projects that are successful in communities just like ours,” said Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas Chancellor Steve Cole.
“The RDA agreed that all options for housing in every part of Sevier County would be explored,” he said.
“Again, investing in our existing businesses is another major priority of the RDA and that is what our resources should be used for.”
The RDA meets as needed to fulfill its mission, which is, “to engage in all related activities ,which have as their objective the long-range economic development of Sevier County.”
