A trial date of Feb. 25, 2019, has been scheduled for Michael Paul Schaeffer, 37, of Texarkana, Ark., for allegedly committing aggravated residential burglary, aggravated assault on a family or household member and kidnapping.

Ninth Judicial District Circuit Court Judge Charles Yeargan scheduled the trial at the Ashdown, Ark., courthouse.

Schaeffer remains in the Little River County Jail in Ashdown with a bond of $100,000.

Ashdown police were called Oct. 1 to a woman’s house in Ashdown because Schaeffer had allegedly entered the house of his former girlfriend, was armed with two knives and was not allowing the woman to leave the house, according to records.

When the police entered the house, Schaeffer was allegedly lying on the floor behind the front door acting as if he was injured or suffering from a medical condition. The ambulance crew checked Schaeffer’s condition and said he was not suffering from any injuries, according to records.

The woman said that when she arrived at her residence the suspect was inside, armed with two knives.

She alleged Schaeffer put one knife to her throat and one knife to her stomach and would not allow her to leave the residence.

The Ashdown officers found where Schaeffer allegedly entered the house by removing a window air conditioner unit and crawling through the window.

Blood was reportedly found on numerous broken windows, and knives were confiscated.

The woman had a minor puncture wound located about 1 inch to the left of her navel area, according to the arrest affidavit.

Schaeffer reportedly told police he came out of the bathroom to scare the woman when the alleged injuries occurred.
