LEISD board to host informational sessions
Liberty-Eylau Independent School District’s Board of Trustees and administration will host a Community Information Series to provide insights into and answer questions about topics concerning the district and education in Texas as a whole.
Topics will include education finance, student safety, testing and accountability and instructional technology. Sessions will include informational presentations as well as question-and-answer sessions.
“Our goal is to have discussions with our community to help answer questions not only about the district, but education across the state,” LEISD Superintendent Ronnie Thompson stated in a press release. “The board sees the importance of engaging our community to help them keep up to date with our schools.”
The first meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 5 at Liberty-Eylau Elementary School, located at 5492 U.S. Highway 59. This session will focus on education finance and provide information about how education is funded in the state of Texas and the impact of the funding system on local taxpayers.
“Our goal is to not only give information but to create more questions,” Thompson said. “An educated and engaged community will only help our schools improve. We look forward to hearing from everyone.”
Future meetings will be hosted in various venues around the community, including area churches.
