Texas High Tigershark­s dominate in home opener

The Texas High Tigershark­s brought home wins in 22 of 24 events in Saturday’s seven-team meet at the Pinkerton Center Pool.

THS’ boys racked up 1,146 points, out-distancing Pineywoods Academy and Carrollton Newman Smith. The girls ended up with 820 points, topping Carrollton Newman Smith and Ranchview.

Coach Eric Vogan was pleased with the results.

“We had some lifetime best times and we did not rest at all for this meet,” he said.

The boys were led by Max Young and Dylan Rosser. Both swimmers earned maximum points; each swimmer won two individual events and were part of two relay wins. Young touched first in the 100 and 200 freestyle. Rosser took wins in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke. The Tigershark­s took the 400 free relay with Young, Rosser, Brady Moore and Jackson Shellogg taking the win.

Robert Frost led a Texas 1-2-3 finish in the 50 freestyle, with Shellogg and Cameron Acorn close behind. Frost was also on the winning 200 free relay and the 200 medley relay.

Brady Moore won the 500 free swim. Logan Diggs saw wins in the 100 breaststro­ke and the 200 IM. Texas High also saw gold in the 200 medley relay with Rosser, Diggs, John David Cass and Frost leading the way.

The girls saw three swimmers turn in maximum point days. Haley Wood took individual wins in the 100 breaststro­ke and the 200 IM. Kaylee Norton won the 50 free and the 100 butterfly. Katelin Seidenschw­arz touched first in the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.

The girls opened strong in the first event with Seidenschw­arz, Wood, Avery Morrill and Hunter Sizemore taking a nine second win over Carrollton Newman Smith in the 200 medley relay. The 200 free relay saw Emma Seidenschw­arz, Norton, Sizemore and Morrill secure victory. Emma Seidenschw­arz won the 100 freestyle and Serenity Danner took home the win in the 1 meter dive competitio­n.

Emma Seidenschw­arz, Wood, Katelin Seidenschw­arz and Norton outdistanc­ed Ranchview by 29 seconds for the win in the 400 freestyle relay.

“They had some very hard practices this week and worked hard in the weight room all week, including Friday afternoon,” Vogan added. “This looks very promising for the rest of the season.”

The Tigershark­s will next be in action at the Frisco Invitation­al. Dive competitio­n will be held on Nov. 1 with the swim meet on Nov. 3.
