Tigers topple Red Oak

SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas—Texas High’s varsity tennis team defeated Red Oak in the regional quarterfin­als in Sulphur Springs, 10-4.

The Tigers will face defending champion Highland Park in the regional semifinals in Allen on Thursday.

CROSS COUNTRY Likins qualifies for state

DALLAS, Texas—Texas High’s Owen Likins qualified for the Class 5A Region II Cross Country state championsh­ip Monday after posting a time of 15:37.11 at the Jesse Owens Memorial Complex in Dallas.

Likins finished in sixth place.

Fezeka Barnes finished with a time of 21:14.33 for THS.

SUBVARSITY Pittsburg tops L-E

Pittsburg’s eighth grade volleyball squad defeated Liberty-Eylau in the A match, 25-16, 21-25, 25-16.

Saniyah Nixon led the Lady Leopards with seven service points.

Pittsburg won the first eighth grade B set, 25-16, while the Leopards won the second set in the eighth grade B match, 25-22.

Liberty-Eylau won the seventh grade A match with Pittsburg, 25-13, 25-10.

Tearnin Pettit led the Leopards with nine service points, R’reahna Thompson chipped in eight points and Serenity Neal finished with seven service points.

Pittsburg won the seventh grade B match with L-E, 25-9, 25-14.

Redwater sweeps New Boston

REDWATER, Texas— Redwater’s eighth grade volleyball team swept New Boston in the A match, 25-21, 25-21.

Abi Morrow led the Lady Dragons with eight service points and Hollyn Tutt paced the Lady Lions with nine service points.

New Boston won the first set in the eighth grade B match with Redwater, 25-22.

The Dragons won the second set, 20-4.

Journey Sprague led Redwater with seven service points and Lakeyvia Hunt scored eight service points for New Boston.

The Dragons defeated the Lions in the seventh grade A match, 25-19, 25-15.

Jayden Bassett led Redwater with 14 service points, while Kaylee Gillam finished with seven service points.

Redwater beat New Boston in the seventh grade B match, 25-16, 17-13.

Kaitlyn Mandarich led the Dragons with 11 service points, while Akya Smith paced the Lions with six service points.

Queen City trumps Pewitt

QUEEN CITY, Texas— Queen City defeated Paul Pewitt in their eighth grade A volleyball match, 25-15, 25-19.

A’Shawni Cooper led the Lady Brahmas with eight service points and Madison Gonzalez paced the Lady Bulldogs with seven service points.

Queen City beat Pewitt in the eighth grade B match, 25-18, 13-11.

Cassidy Johnson ended the match with 16 service points for the Bulldogs and Jolie Berry finished with eight service points for the Brahmas.

The Bulldogs defeated the Brahmas in the seventh grade A match, 25-21, 17-25, 25-18.

Ashtyn Boyd led Pewitt with 11 service points and Jordan Jones finished with 10 service points for Queen City.

The Bulldogs defeated the Brahmas in the seventh grade B match, 25-11, 21-6.

Kelsey Nash led Queen City with 19 service points and Krista Bigelow ended with seven service points for Pewitt.

Red Lick edges Hooks

RED LICK, Texas—Red Lick’s eighth grade volleyball squad defeated Hooks in their A match, 25-10, 25-6.

Sarah Estes led the Lady Mustangs with 17 service points and Emma Henard added 10 service points for the Lady Hornets.

Natalie Whitten, Brooke Phillips and Haylie Gerber each scored two points apiece for Hooks.

Hooks and Red Lick split the eighth grade B match.

Lauren Carroll led the Mustangs with six service points and Tiara Sanders finished with five service points for the Hornets.

Hooks defeated Red Lick in the seventh grade A match, 25-13, 25-17.

Marleigh Smith led the Hornets with 14 service points and Madison Northcutt finished with six service points for the Mustangs.

Red Lick defeated Hooks in the seventh grade B match.

Olivia Perry led the Mustangs with 10 service points.

Kyleigh Gerber and Nyasia Hall each scored two points apiece for the Hornets.

Maud falls to Detroit

MAUD, Texas—Detroit middle school volleyball squad defeated Maud in the A match, 25-23, 25-18.

Jaiden Darden led Maud with seven service points.

Braylon Craig and C.C. Runels each scored seven service points for Detroit.

Detroit defeated Maud in the middle school B match, 25-16, 23-25, 25-14.

Samantha Barnette led the Lady Cardinals with 10 service points, while Bailie English paced the Lady Eagles with 18 service points.
