Taco Frenzy

Patrons jam roads as ‘soft opening’ goes viral

-

People in Texarkana really love Taco Tico. We mean they really, really love it. That was apparent Monday evening to anyone driving in the vicinity of Texas Boulevard and State Line Avenue.

Taco Tico is returning to Texarkana in a building on the boulevard just a bit west of State Line. The official opening day is Thursday.

But apparently word leaked out on social media that the new restaurant could be serving “friends and family” and other invited guests Monday through the drive-thru window.

And that’s all it took.

By Monday afternoon posts and photos started showing up on Facebook talking about the large number of cars jamming the road. Traffic was backed up from the Taco Tico driveway all the way around the corner onto State Line as wouldbe patrons eagerly awaited a chance to again enjoy their favorite taste sensation.

We doubt most of them were invited. But that didn’t stand in their way. Nor were they deterred by the prospects of a long line and long wait.

It’s a good omen for the restaurant’s owners. We wish them the best and hope the excitement continues.

But a word of advice to those who want to wait a bit before grabbing a taco burger or don’t have time to navigate a long line: You might want to avoid that intersection come Thursday when Taco Tico opens for real.
