PG posts victory over Leopards

K.J. Hicks had a 74-yard kickoff return touchdown and a 3-yard TD run as Pleasant Grove’s junior varsity defeated Liberty-Eylau, 35-18, at Harris Field on Thursday.

Chase McClure recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a Hawk touchdown. Tyler Williams blocked the punt.

Jalen Woodside threw a 75-yard TD pass to Quinn Bingham for a score, and Logan Johnson had a 4-yard touchdown run for Pleasant Grove.

Connor Damron kicked in five PATs for the Hawks.

Darrius Francisco, Ian Jones, and Shawn White each had a touchdown for the Leopards, while Marshad Handy and Stephen Nelson made a fumble recovery apiece.

The Liberty-Eylau coaches recognized offensive lineman Josh Wright along with defensive linemen Ahmad Davis and Jaqulain Florence for their excellent play.

Defensive standouts for the Leopards were Keyvuntae Featherson and Michael Riley.

Jaquiz Walton had a touchdown for L-E’s junior varsity B team in a 6-6 tie with the Hawks.

Liberty-Eylau plays at Pittsburg at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Hooks, Mount Vernon split

HOOKS, Texas—Mount Vernon defeated Hooks in an eighth grade football game, 28-6.

Logan Davis scored on a 10-yard run for the Hornets.

Jake Ledford recovered a fumble for Hooks and David Garcia collected a intercepti­on.

The Hornets defeated Mount Vernon in the seventh grade game, 14-6.

Keyshawn Walls scored two rushing touchdowns and a 2-point conversion for Hooks. Walls also finished with 160 yards rushing and a intercepti­on for the Hornets.

North Heights’ 8th grade wins

Ty Waid threw two touchdown passes as North Heights defeated Hope, 22-8, in an eight grade football game at Razorback Stadium.

Kentrevion Parker caught a 55-yard TD pass from Waid, while Travion Nash grabbed a 60-yard touchdown pass.

The Razorbacks’ Luke Paxton returned a punt 55 yards for a score, while teammate Marjaevion Cummings had two, 2-point runs.

Dailyn Jefferson had two intercepti­ons for North Heights. The Razorbacks finished the season at 4-4.

Dragons fall to Hughes Springs

REDWATER, Texas—Hughes Springs’ eighth grade squad defeated Redwater Thursday, 38-16.

Austin Smith scored for the Dragons on a 2-yard run.

Collin Narens scored on a 35-yard dash and also scored two 2-point conversion­s for Redwater.

Kourtley Odom collected a fumble recovery for the Dragons defense.

Redwater won the seventh grade contest with Hughes Springs, 24-14.

Jaxon Minter scored three touchdowns for the Dragons on runs of 20, 33 and 43 yards. Minter also scored two 2-point conversion­s for Redwater.

Braden Doyle added a 2-point conversion for the Dragons.

VOLLEYBALL

TMS sweeps Pine Tree

LONGVIEW, Texas—Texas Middle School beat Pine Tree in their eighth grade A volleyball match, 25-22, 18-25, 25-20.

Emma Prince led the Lady Tigers with nine service points.

TMS swept Pine Tree in the eighth grade B match, 25-16, 25-10.

Makinlee McDonald led the Tigers with seven service points.

The Tigers defeated the Lady Pirates in their seventh grade A match, 25-6, 25-18.

Anna Lee led the Tigers with 25 service points.

TMS won the seventh grade B match with Pine Tree, 25-20, 25-16.

Dynasti Wardale led the Tigers with 18 service points.
