Hempstead County Bicentennial Committee is sponsoring a time capsule as part of the county bicentennial. All citizens of the county may turn in one sheet of paper, available online or at the Chamber of Commerce, to be microfilmed and placed into the capsule, with communities asked to donate artifacts or items to be added. All letters and items are needed by Nov. 3. T-shirts are being sold with proceeds going towards the bicentennial celebration, taking place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.
