Viewers call the shots in ‘Haunted Live’
Scary good TV: As more ghosthunting series pop up on television, it’s clear that viewers get a kick out of watching people investigate the paranormal. But a new series kicks it up a notch with an interactive element that allows the audience at home to be part of the action.
The Tennessee Wraith Chasers attempt to capture evidence of paranormal activities at reportedly haunted locations in “Haunted Live,” airing Friday, Nov. 2, on Travel. In a unique twist, viewers can monitor the live video stream of the locale through Travel’s Facebook Live platform and comment on findings in real time, potentially directing the team where to look next. In an attempt to thwart interference, each week’s location is kept under wraps until the investigation begins.
It’s a bold premise for a TV series, and an innovative one at that, especially in a genre that more often than not relies on heavily edited pre-taped segments. The Tennessee Wraith Chasers are up to the challenge, with years of experience investigating paranormal activity.
“This is gong to be the ultimate paranormal experience,” Chris Smith, TWC founder, said. “It’s like nothing that’s ever been done before in this field and on this level. We have such a loyal and passionate fan base. With their eyes and ears added to each investigation, there’s no telling what we could uncover.”
Formed in 2009, the team of paranormal experts also includes Steven “Doogie” McDougal, Scott Porter, Brannon Smith and Mike Goncalves.Together, they rely on a combination of technology and unique experiments to find evidence of the paranormal, all the while adhering to their motto: respect, detect, collect. The group has been featured in many television series, including “Paranormal Challenge,” “Ghostland Tennessee,” “Ghost Asylum” and “Haunted Towns.”

True-life tales of terror: Halloween is the perfect time for ghost stories, chilling sagas of murderous mayhem and twisted fables of creepy creatures. While most of them are obviously tall tales, myths and legends,
there are people who claim they’ve experienced horrifying paranormal activity firsthand. For those who dare to relive those terrifying nights, a TV series gives them the opportunity to share their tales of woe.
Whether or not you believe in ghosts, goblins and the like, the show offers a fascinating look at unexplained phenomena, thanks to actors who re-enact allegedly true stories in “Scariest Night of My Life,” airing Sunday, Oct. 28, on Travel.
