Suspect faces charge of sexual misconduct with young teenager
Man had previously pleaded guilty to possessing meth
A man who recently pleaded guilty in federal court to a drug crime is now facing a felony charge at the state level for alleged sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old girl.
Patrick Glenn Taylor Jr.,
32, pleaded guilty Aug.
21 to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute at a hearing before U.S. District Judge Susan Hickey in the Texarkana Division of the Western District of Arkansas. Prosecutors in
Miller County filed a formal charge Thursday accusing Taylor of sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old girl.
Taylor is accused in Miller County of waking a 15-year-old girl as she slept in a Texarkana, Ark., hotel room June 3 where she was staying in connection with a relative’s birthday celebration, according to a probable cause affidavit used to create the following account. The girl reported that she threw back the covers and yelled after realizing Taylor was rubbing his genitals on her side and had lifted her shirt, according to documents.
The alleged victim said Taylor left the room after she ran crying to the bathroom. Taylor allegedly returned later in the night
and woke the girl a second time. The girl reported that she had received text messages earlier in the day from Taylor but didn’t know from whom they were sent until later when Taylor allegedly asked her why she didn’t respond to the messages.
The messages allegedly offered the girl money and alcohol in exchange for sex. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kristian Robertson is prosecuting Taylor in Miller County for fourth-degree sexual assault. If convicted, the offense is punishable by up to six years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.
A federal indictment was filed June 5 charging Taylor with two counts of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver. He was arrested June 7 and appeared June 8 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Barry Bryant for arraignment. Taylor was released on a $5,000 unsecured appearance bond. Taylor was taken into custody following his plea hearing Aug. 21.
A warrant for Taylor issued by Miller County officials was executed Aug. 28.
A date for Taylor to be sentenced in his federal case has not been scheduled. Taylor sold approximately 54 grams of methamphetamine, which tested at 91.8 percent pure, to an undercover operative working with the South Central Drug Task Force on July 12, 2017.
Taylor’s case in Miller County has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carlton Jones.
