Election Letters

Get them in now for Thursday deadline

-

The midterm election is rapidly approaching. Voting will be Tuesday, November 6. It’s hard to beleive the big day is so close. We are sure many Texarkana-area residents have pretty strong opinions about the candidates and the issues. And many like to express those opinions on this page in our Letters to the Editor section.

That’s fine. We invite public comment.

We do want to again remind our readers, though, of a long-standing policy of this newspaper. We stop printing Letters to the Editor regarding the election and candidates five days before Election Day. That means the last day we will be printing letters concerning the election is Thursday, November 1.

Letters are published on a space-available basis. We cannot guarantee all letters will be printed before the cutoff date. Remember a few rules:

■ Letters should be limited to 350 words or less.

■ All letters must include the writer’s name, address and telephone number.

■ We don’t publish anonymous letters.

■ You can only have one letter printed every 30 days.

■ Letters may be edited for legal considerations or length.

■ We do not print letters from outside our circulation area.

While you are free to give your opinion about candidates and issues, understand that this is not a venue for unsubstantiated allegations of personal or professional misconduct.

Since there are only two days left to get your letter in, submit your letter at the Gazette office or by email to opinion@texarkanagazette.com. Please do not send letters as an email attachment—type them in the body of the email—and please do not use all-caps.
