owntown Texarkana has a new spot to play pool and catch a game, making for two sports bars now along the 200 block of East Broad Street.
Broadway Billiards Sports Bar, 203 E. Broad St., joins Twin City Sports Bar as the second sports bar in this downtown block, which is also home to TLC Burgers & Fries, GQ Look and Keathley’s General Store.
Brittany Karpinski manages the new nightspot, which is owned by Terri Tussey. Broadway Billiards adds to the downtown nightlife mix, joining Twin City, Verona Restaurant’s wine bar (across the street), Hopkins Icehouse, Pecan Point Gastropub & Brewery and Zapata’s Mexican Restaurant.
Pool here is ongoing every day at the four pool tables. There’s a full bar with beer served, and a corner stage is set up for karaoke and live music. The stage is modestly-sized now but it will be extended.
“We picked this location because we wanted to bring something to downtown,” Karpinski said. “We have all professional
pool tables.”
The bar will hold tournaments about five days per week. That includes a $1,000 match night they have planned.
A week ago Friday, they were hosting a live band, too. Although the exact schedule is in flux, look for live music to be a regular part of entertainment here. There’s also karaoke on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Patrons can stoke their competitive fire at the shuffleboard, too, or with darts.
“We have the NFL Sunday Ticket, and we show all the college games. We’re trying to bring that sports bar atmosphere into it,” Karpinski said.
Hours are 3 p.m. to midnight weekdays, 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to midnight Sundays. Wednesdays feature free pool all day and night. Catered food occasionally arrives for the pool tournaments.
“We’re open. We have an amazing vibe in here.” said Karpinski, noting it’s a place where patrons joke and have fun. It’s a neighborhood bar, a local spot. “It’s unlike any other bar in town.”
