PGISD to consider land swap for elementary school

- By Jennifer Middleton

During its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. today, Pleasant Grove Independent School District’s Board of Trustees will consider a land swap agreement with CHRISTUS Ark-LaTex Health to procure land for the new elementary school.

Trustees are set to approve the terms of the agreement for exchange of a 4.350-acre tract of land owned by the district for 12.054 acres owned by CHRISTUS Ark-La-Tex Health.

The land is at Christus and Galleria Oaks drives. In September, the district accepted proposals for its property, per state requirement, and CHRISTUS submitted the only proposal.

Funds for the new school come from a $19.9 million bond election voters approved in May, along with security and technology upgrades district-wide.

Consideration of a construction manager at-risk is also included on today’s agenda. The board had previously considered managers for the project and did not accept proposals during the September time frame.

Other items include a report from Chartwell’s on the food service program, reorganization of the board and approval of the 2017-18 Career Technology Education committee.

The meeting will be held at the Central Services, 8500 N. Kings Highway, Texarkana, Texas.
