Liberty-Eylau finishes season on a high

GILMER, Texas—Liberty-Eylau’s Marzavin Riles four touchdown performanc­e helped snap a 12-year long drought with Gilmer in their season finale at Jeff Traylor Stadium.

The Leopards defeated the Buckeyes in a District 6-4A game for playoff seeding, 54-42.

Marzavin Riles scored two touchdowns for the Leopards in the first half. Riles’ third and fourth touchdown came on runs over 20 yards.

Riles finished with two grabs for 48 yards and a touchdown. Riles also ended with 18 totes for 154 yards and two touchdowns.

Darryl Bush led Gilmer rushing with 16 totes for 98 yards and a TD.

Bran Webb finished with 22 carries for 116 yards and a touchdown for the Buckeyes.

El-Amin Greer and Shannon Roy collected intercepti­ons in the first half for the Liberty-Eylau defense and Lakken Stuart scooped up a fumble recovery.

Shayne Porche gave the Leopards their first lead of the game in third quarter, when he caught a 49-yard strike from Isaiah Cross.

Porche finished with three catches for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Cade Camp completed 15 of 29 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown for the Buckeyes.

Cross led L-E’s rushing with 14 carries for 174 yards and a touchdown. He also completed 6 of 10 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns.

Cedric Dickerson ended the game with 13 carries for 75 yards for Liberty-Eylau.
