Paul Pewitt blanks Queen City

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas—Paul Pewitt took care of business as it shut out Queen City, 43-0, in its final tune-up game on Friday night before postseason begins.

With the District 11-2A, Division II victory over the winless Bulldogs (0-10, 0-7), Paul Pewitt (8-2, 5-2) will continue its season with a playoff game next week.

The Brahmas finished with 423 yards rushing and running back Deiontray Hill recorded four touchdowns. Fellow back D.J. Turner also had a score on a 69-yard run.

Quarterbac­k Cross Holder finished 1-of-2 passing for Paul Pewitt and found Colby Frost for a 97-yard touchdown.

James Bowie 47, Overton 20

SIMMS, Texas—James Bowie running back Ty Watts rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns to power the Pirates to a 47-20 victory over the Overton Mustangs, clinching the second playoff seeding for the hosts.

James Bowie (6-4 overall) finishes at 4-1 in District 10-2A, Division II, good enough for second place behind champion Clarksvill­e.

Watts carried the ball 13 times, scoring on runs of 14, 5 and 65 yards,, all in the first half when the Pirates built a 26-6 cushion.

James Bowie finished with 436 yards total offense, including 377 on the ground.

Gabe Brantley scored a pair of touchdowns on runs of 57 and 17 yards. Quarterbac­k Cole Marshall also threw for two touchdowns.
