Cossatot to participate in global day of giving Nov. 27
The University of Arkansas Cossatot Foundation will accept donations Nov. 27 for #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
#GivingTuesday originates from social media, making the hashtag an important part of the day’s brand. Nonprofits across the globe will share their organization’s message via social media on this day of philanthropy. Contributions on #GivingTuesday vary from donating money, volunteering time or sharing a nonprofit’s message via social media.
To celebrate #GivingTuesday 2018, the UA Cossatot Foundation will host an event open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UA Cossatot Bank of Lockesburg. The event will include a blood drive, food, music and a drawing for a Series 4 Apple watch.
For a chance to win the Apple watch, participants must give blood, donate at least $10 to the UA Cossatot Foundation, like the UA Cossatot Foundation Facebook page and share at least one #GivingTuesday post via social media.
Community members, students, and UA Cossatot faculty and staff are encouraged to participate. In addition for a chance at winning the Apple watch, donors will receive an appreciation hot dog lunch and an “I Gave” t-shirt.
“The community is supporting our foundation’s #GivingTuesday efforts in numerous ways,” UA Cossatot Coordinator of Development Dustin Roberts said in a press release. “Several local businesses are participating by helping our foundation collect donations on site and by wearing an ‘I Gave’ #GivingTuesday T-shirt on Nov. 27. We also have a local donor committed to naming a room on our De Queen campus in support of the cause.”
