PG wins on ground game

PARIS, Texas—Bruce Garrett rushed for 163 yard sand a touchdown on 13 carries to help Pleasant Grove roll Dallas Roosevelt, 56-12, in a Class 4A, Div. II bi-district playoff football game Thursday at Paris’ Wildcat Stadium.

Ben Harmon was 6-of-7 passing for 204 yards and three touchdowns. Jackson Cobb, who led all receivers, had two grabs for 92 yards and a pair of TDs.

Ryan Pickelman found paydirt

from 14 yards away as he broke tackles and found an opening on the left side in the first half.

The Hawks built a 28-0 halftime lead, and the Black Hawk defense forced many turnovers on downs or punts. Pleasant Grove dominated the time of possession in the first half.

James Wiggins had a 40-yard touchdown reception and a 33-yard touchdown run for the Hawks. Wiggins finished with 79 yards on the ground on seven carries.

Pleasant Grove outscored Roosevelt, 28-12 in the second half and played many reserves, mostly sophomores.

Bladen Reaves got free and ran 45 yards for a score in the third quarter to pad the Hawks’ lead 49-12.

Senior Will Cullipher sealed it with a 23-yard touchdown run early in the fourth for PG.

Pleasant Grove (9-2) takes on Waco Connally at Royse City ISD Stadium at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23.
