TYLER, Texas — Atlanta racked up 442 yards total offense, which included three touchdowns covering more than 40 yards, as the Rabbits rolled past Kemp, 42-21, in a Class 3A, Division I area football playoff game Friday at Tyler’s Rose Stadium. Atlanta

The Rabbs broke open a close game, leading only 21-14 at halftime, with two touchdowns in the third quarter to build a 35-14 advantage.
It was a battle of quarterbacks with Andrew Samples leading the Rabbs’ 281-yard running attack with 100 yards on 15 carries. He also completed 6-of-8 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns.
Quarterback Cameron Clamon paced Kemp, rushing 18 times for 112 yards, and completed 12-of-18 passes for 200 yards.
In the first quarter, after Conner Samples recovered a Kemp fumble at the Rabbs’ 19-yard line, it only took Atlanta three plays to score.
Samples hit Joshua Edwards with a short pass and the senior wide receiver took it all the way for a 72-yard touchdown.
It appeared Kemp had tied the score on a 75-yard touchdown pass, but the play was nullified by a penalty.
Four plays later, Atlanta’s Carson Rich intercepted a pass at the Kemp 48-yard line.
On the fourth play from scrimmage, Samples connected with Dra Nelson for a 41-yard touchdown pass to make the score, 14-0.
Kemp bounced right back with a 67-yard touchdown pass from Cameron Clamon to Brock Dedie.
At the start of the second quarter, Atlanta had a pass intercepted at the Kemp 6-yard line. After six plays to the 37-yard line, Clamon broke away on a 63-yard run to tie the score, 14-14.
With less than two minutes left until halftime, Samples connected on a 37-yard pass to Kade Wood, and then connected with Farron Hall on a 38-yard scoring strike to put the Rabbs on top at halftime, 21-14.
The Atlanta defense shut down Kemp and its quarterback in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Atlanta scored twice for a 35-14 advantage heading into the final period.
The Rabbs had marched 56 yards in nine plays to the 1-yard line. On fourth down, Atlanta was assessed a 5-yard penalty back to the 6.
Samples rolled out to his left and handed the ball off to Wood on a reverse, and after a few steps, Wood found Samples all alone in the end zone for a touchdown and a 28-14 lead.
Atlanta scored again on its next possession on a 27-yard run by Jawan King to open up a 35-14 cushion.
Each team had a touchdown in the final period with Dylan Ashcraft scoring on a 12-yard pass. A 55-yard pass play from Clamon set up the score.
